2005 Weingut Schloss Sommerhausen Riesling
Elegant and seductive, with a lively acidity providing backbone that perfectly balances the sweetness. Concentrated aromas ranging from peach to pineapple to passion fruit. The Steinbach in Sommerhausen is a steep slope with an ideal orientation to the south and southwest, with gradients of up to 80%. The slight basin location and the sun reflection from the Main River at the foot of the slope further favor the microclimate. The origin of the name is a small stream that carries water in winter. In summer, however, only the dry creek bed – the STEINBACH – is visible. The soil, weathered from the Muschelkalk, is very skeletal, well-draining, and easily warmed. The supporting walls running through the mountain also act as heat retainers.
